Tyrell Introduces Tyrell Cloud at MPTS 2022 and Announces Mallinson Sadler Productions as a Tyrell Cloud Client

Leveraging its extensive industry and cloud experience, Tyrell is today unveiling its unique, next-generation, fully-automated virtual production environment Tyrell Cloud at the Media Production Technology Show (MPTS) at London’s Olympia on Stand L312. Hybrid by design, Tyrell Cloud provides a set of services powered by leading manufacturers that allow anyone involved in content creation to take advantage of the power and agility of the cloud without the often-associated runaway cost or steep learning curve.

Tyrell is also announcing Mallinson Sadler Productions (MSP) as a Tyrell Cloud customer. MSP will initially use the service for all its offline editorial work.

Facilities and media companies are often working under tight deadlines with little time to fully research what cloud technology can offer, or which cloud services provider is the right one to partner with on a given project. A lack of cloud knowledge, purchasing power, limited cost forecasting, data security and the dreaded egress fees are also preventing many content producers and media companies from enjoying the benefits that cloud services have to offer. Add to that the growing number of disparate services media focused vendors are launching and it can be daunting to successfully implement cloud services into the production cycle and workflows. Tyrell Cloud redefines system integration in Media & Entertainment.

Tyrell Cloud provides media companies with a turnkey managed service based on their project workflow requirements, which gives instant access to solutions from multiple vendors. Today, a Tyrell Cloud customer can enjoy an offline editorial experience with EditShare FLEX and AWS (Storage), FileCatalyst (File transfer) and Teradici (Virtual workstation control). For the Media Production Technology Show, Tyrell Cloud will add SRT stream ingest with Cinedeck with more to follow soon.

Bryan Malone, Managing Director, Tyrell says, “Tyrell Cloud enables customers to align their operational costs with their project cycles and start working on projects immediately within a fully cloud or hybrid environment. If you compare it to a physical on-prem installation, we’ve erected the building, put the racks in, populated racks with kit, connected the internet, wired the whole building, added user authentication, provided the workstations and the furniture and we’re handing over the keys. Every project has its own virtual workstations and infrastructure and users schedule projects to run as and when required. It’s a much more flexible and sustainable way of working.”

Anyone on the production project team can access and manage content in the Tyrell Cloud environment without needing technical cloud skills. It allows freelance editors working remotely to edit content in the cloud; they simply need the server address to log in. Customers can also choose a hybrid version. MSP, for example, has an EditShare both on-prem and in the cloud. The EditShare on-prem is used to land rushes and the team then choose which rushes go up into the cloud.

Tyrell's goal is to 'Make Cloud Simple'. This has been achieved through automating the system integration, providing users with the power to control when their resources run. The final part of the puzzle is to simplify the billing. Tyrell Cloud offers predictable monthly subscription for the static costs such as storage and the simplification of all the different capacity and usage models each AWS or manufacturer service uses.

Based on 22 years of system integration experience, Tyrell has identified a real opportunity to simplify migration to cloud and redefine the next-generation of Tyrell. The innovation of Tyrell Cloud has been recognised and the company has been asked to present two papers at MPTS:

  • Nick Soper, Tyrell Cloud Platform Owner will be presenting a paper at MPTS –“Cloud Economics – What’s the Rush and What’s the Cost”on Wednesday 11thMay at 1:25pm.
  • Nick Soper, Dan Muchmore, Tyrell Sales & Marketing Director and Ken Robinson, Technical Manager, Mallinson Sadler Productions will be on a panel session on Wednesday 11thMay at 4:10pm explaining how and why MSP is using Tyrell Cloud. The session will be hosted by Lisa Collins, IABM.
