Uncompromised 4K production at Roland Garros with Sony technology

One of the biggest sports events in the world is now happening, and tennis fans can enjoy the clarity of stunning 4K pictures captured with Sony technology. Once again, France Télévisions is live operating the acclaimed Sony’s HDC-4300 system cameras to deliver simultaneous production in 4K, HDR and HD from the Philippe-Chatrier central court. The PWS-4500, Sony’s new 4K live production server, is also being used in France Télévisions’ infrastructure for 4K ISO recording, provided by Video-Plus rental facility. The 4K stream will be available for CANAL+ and Eurosport subscribers, to deliver uncompromised experience to tennis enthusiasts across Europe.
To deliver enhanced coverage from the “Court Annexes” the service facility Gearhouse France has worked in collaboration with rental company Genitech. They have chosen Sony’s BRC-H800 robotic cameras in conjunction with RM-IP500 remote controller once again, recognising its superior behavior in high dynamic “sunny” conditions. Designed for unattended operation, BRC-H800 is a compact but powerful PTZ robotic camera and an ideal complement to other broadcast cameras for capturing images in hard-to-reach positions.
Exclusively for the French Open, Eurosport has launched a new 4K channel ‘Eurosport 4K’. Broadcasting in 4K from the centre court, Eurosport 4K is airing in the UK, via Sky Q and Virgin TV, and in France (CANAL+), Germany (HD+) and Spain (Orange). The biggest European grand slam tournament will be running until June 10, 2018.
