AIMS Partners With VSF to Offer Summer Sessions Educational Online Presentations on Media Over IP

The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) is partnering with the Video Services Forum (VSF) to offer the "Summer Sessions — Media Over IP Education" series of presentations, which will run from May 29 through Sept. 4. Designed to meet the need for ongoing education in the absence of major trade shows, this series of recorded presentations will focus on media over IP workflows, with a strong emphasis on use cases, and exploration of technologies supporting the migration to IP.

JT-NM Announces Additions to Testing and Badging Program

The Joint Task Force on Networked Media (JT-NM) announced today that it will be enhancing its JT-NM Tested program to improve transparency and to foster even greater industry participation. The JT-NM will publish testing criteria, and vendors will perform testing at their own facilities. The Joint Task Force is made up of a consortium of industry partners including the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE®), and the Video Services Forum (VSF).

Standards validation of vendor test results will be confirmed at a testing event scheduled for the week of March 16. The overall results will be made available to the industry via a published catalog of results and via badges that participants can display on their booths at the 2020 NAB Show. Pixel Power adds Software Defined Uncompressed IP Capability to established StreamMaster Integrated Playout

Pixel Power has today announced it will be adding uncompressed IP playout capability, based on the SMPTE ST 2110 family of standards, to its already well established StreamMaster playout technology. The development comes as a natural progression of incorporating new standards within its software defined technology platforms: StreamMaster Media Processing and Gallium Workflow Orchestration. Like all StreamMaster and Gallium functionality, SMTPE ST 2110 will be supported as software solutions whether on-premise or virtualized in a data centre.

Cobalt Digital to Host RIST Protocol Demo at IBC2018
During the IBC2018 show in Amsterdam, Cobalt Digital (Stand 10.B44) will host a demonstration of the Reliable Internet Stream Transport (RIST) specification, created by the Video Services Forum (VSF) to serve as a common industry specification for low-latency video contribution over the internet. The first version of the new specification, the RIST Simple Profile, is nearing completion, and members of the VSF RIST working group have used Cobalt Digital equipment to demonstrate the protocol in action.
