Vinten unveils its new Vector 75 head at NAB2011

Date: 28/04/2011
Vinten unveils its new Vector 75 head at NAB2011 Vinten®, a Vitec Group brand and a global leader in camera supports, has launched its new Vector 75 pan and tilt head at this year’s NAB2011. The cost effective Vector 75, suitable for both professional studio and OB use, offers an outstanding camera carrying performance and includes standard features typical of Vinten’s high quality camera support products.

The intelligent design of the Vector 75 is based on the hugely popular Vector 70, but with an improved carrying capacity, and stronger, more durable components. The Vector 75 head incorporates the same LF drag control that helped make its predecessor the global industry standard for many years.

Vinten’s renowned drag systems are designed to offer complete control at any level of movement. The Vector 75’s LF drag is an infinitely adjustable lubricated friction system, allowing for fine adjustment of drag levels as well as whip pan at any level of drag.
The Vector 75 head also includes Vinten’s unique infinitely adjustable Perfect Balance system, one of the most highly acclaimed features of the Vector 70. A regular user of the Vector 70 head, Tom Guilmette, freelance director of photography, praised its performance: “The Vector 70 is a highly successful pan and tilt head using a superb patented counterbalance mechanism. This is easily adjustable, with no time-consuming cam changes, and provides up to ±60° perfectly balanced tilt range”.
The pantographic balance system, unique to the Vector range, is suitable for camera, lens and teleprompter combinations of up to 75 kg (165lb) on the Vector 75. Combined with the LF drag system it provides the ultimate in smooth, precise quality of movement. Another feature of the Vector 75, which illustrates the innovative design of Vinten’s Vector range is the illuminated leveling bubble, a simple but effective tool which provides quick and convenient set up in low light situations. The pan and tilt head also includes a T bar slide plate positioner which is a retractable adjuster for controlled fore and aft camera adjustment.
Peter Harman, Vinten’s product manager said: “We’ve taken all of the standard features and functionality of the Vector 70 and incorporated it into the Vector 75. The new design makes it robust and solid with an improved camera carrying performance. Together with Vinten’s unique Perfect Balance technology, the Vector 75 delivers a performance which is ideal for today’s fast paced and cost conscious production company”.
