Volicon Observer(R) Family
As the industry standard for video monitoring and logging, the Volicon Observer(R) captures, stores, and indexes broadcast content from multiple channels, offering users simultaneous access to video from their desktop computers. The Observer product family now includes Observer Professional, designed specifically for budget-conscious television stations and organizations that require simplified workflows for media monitoring; Observer Enterprise, a fully-redundant, enterprise-grade, 24x7 automated record-and-search appliance targeted to broadcasting networks for media monitoring and compliance workflows; and Observer Remote Program Monitor (RPM), providing quality-of-experience monitoring for IPTV, MSOs, independent cable operators, and satellite operators.

CABSAT Debut: Observer(R) Professional Built on Silverlight(TM)
Based on Microsoft(R) Silverlight(TM), the Observer(R) Professional includes an intuitive, streamlined user interface for both Mac(R) and PC platforms that supports Internet Explorer(R), Safari(R), Google Chrome(TM), and Firefox(R) browsers, as well as integrated export functionality to H.264, Flash(R), MPEG-2, or MPEG-4. The versatile system includes improved streaming capabilities and gives users the flexibility to export video files in .ASF (WM9), H.264, Flash, MPEG-2, or MPEG-4 formats. By employing Silverlight for the Observer Pro, Volicon has gained access to a rich array of building blocks, which Volicon engineering and product design teams can quickly customize in response to prioritized customer feedback and requirements.
Observer(R) RPM Version 5.5
The latest release of the Observer(R) Remote Program Monitor (RPM) specifically addresses the effective management of large-scale installations with the new Element Management Services (EMS) module, which enables centralized configuration and alert management of multiple probes in a large operation. RPM 5.5 also includes significant enhancements to the Interactive Services Module (ISM), which enables users to reliably test complex on-demand or interactive services using pattern matching, advanced decision-making, and improved quality-of-experience detectors. The ISM now includes an Interactive Services Wizard, a desktop application for developing reliable interactive services scripts, and a module that enables the ISM's operation on every encoder in the operation.
Content Matching Module for Observer(R)
Volicon will showcase its new Content Matching Module (CMM), an addition to the Observer(R) digital video monitoring and recording system that enables operators to flag and access specific audio cues when they appear in a broadcast. The CMM has countless uses for public information, government, and public relations professionals, such as the ability to track political campaigns, monitor coverage of advertisements and infomercials, or confirm airing of public service announcements. Using a pre-recorded segment, the CMM creates an audio fingerprint database that is continuously checked against the incoming stream for a match. When the audio appears in a broadcast, the system provides an immediate alert and notification to the operator along with immediate access to the video in which the segment occurred. At the same time, the matched content is added to a log that can be referenced along with clips that can be shared, within the organization and beyond, to provide all the evidence necessary for regulatory, copyright, and ad placement inquiries.
Producer Content Repurposing Module for Observer(R)
The Producer Content Repurposing Module for Observer(R) makes it easy for content owners to leverage their broadcast assets across multiple platforms, including broadcast, the Web, over-the-top TV, and mobile video. Because the module is fully integrated with the Observer monitoring and logging platform, as well as with program metadata from the customer's automation system, users can perform clip identification, verification, and repurposing from a single interface. With the full range of codecs, bit rates, resolutions, and quality settings available, the Producer enables operators to deploy one system that will handle all of their repurposing requirements and facilitate a cost-effective shift into multiplatform media distribution.
