Tektronix, the market leader in broadcast video test, monitoring and analysis solutions, today announced that it will be offering a series of free seminars at Broadcast Video Expo on Wednesday 17 February 2010. The seminars will provide expert technical advice and are designed to help broadcast professionals solve real-world video quality challenges. The seminar series consists of three sessions which will focus on SDI physical layer analysis, gamut displays for colour correction, and practical implementation of Cerify® file-based QC in production workflows. Each seminar will run twice - once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
The first session – 'Effective Facility Planning and Implementation with High-End SDI Physical Layer Analysis' – is aimed at Chief Engineers and General Managers of post-production and production facilities, who need to take into account the trend to higher transmission speeds in the SDI distribution network when looking at facility upgrades. The seminar will provide advice on issues such as assessing the performance of SDI transmitters and receivers, and reducing the complexity of certain measurement procedures through clever automation. This session will start at 10:30 and again at 14:00.
Video Colourists and Editors should attend the seminar on 'New Gamut displays for Colour Correction', which will take place at 11:30 and 15:00. This session will show how recent developments in colour measurement technologies can be used to overcome some of the limitations of conventional tools. The seminar will focus on two new displays from Tektronix: Luma Qualified Vector (LQVTM), which allows user defined luma ranges to be selected when isolating skin tones or specific colours for changes or enhancements, and Spearhead, which allows colourists to benchmark more efficiently against previous jobs by providing reliable, repeatable measurements for assessing the saturation values for images and scenes.
The final seminar – 'Practical Implementation of Cerify File-Based QC in Production Workflows' – will be useful for Broadcast Engineers, Chief Engineers and General Managers of post-production and production facilities who want to learn more about how Cerify file-based testing tools can be used to address real-world QC issues. Sample workflows will be discussed, and a live presentation will demonstrate how to integrate an automated QC tool into workflow control systems (showing how it interacts with other components of an automated production process). This session will be run in cooperation with ROOT6 Technology, and will start at 12:30 and 16:00.
