Clear-Com Teams up with Elevation Church to Explore Worship Workflows in the New Normal Posted: 25/06/2020
Clear-Com Teams up with Elevation Church to Explore Worship Workflows in the and lsquo;New Normal and rsquo;

On Wednesday June 24 at 10:00 a.m. PDT Clear-Com will be hosting a webinar alongside Elevation Church about how their widespread campuses are able to maintain worship services during COVID-19. Church Production’s Brian Blackmore will moderate the discussion with Elevation Church’s Technical Director Zach Kimrey and Justin Emge, Clear-Com’s Applications Engineering Manager. Elevation Church, based in North Carolina, has an extensive broadcast production setup, including audio, visuals, front-of-house, lighting, multi-site streaming and master controls, creating a fairly complex comms environment. Now, consider that Elevation Church has 20 sites and over 25,000 members in attendance across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, and Toronto, needing to engage and connect with the same standard of worship they’re regularly accustomed to.

First Baptist Jackson Upgrades to HD Live Production with FOR-A HVS-490 Production Switcher Posted: 21/04/2020
First Baptist Jackson Upgrades to HD Live Production with FOR-A HVS-490 Production Switcher

First Baptist Church of Jackson in downtown Jackson, Miss., began broadcasting its Sunday services on a local TV station in the 1950s, but had not significantly upgraded its production facilities since the 1980s. Last summer, the church made the jump to HD production and anchored its redesigned control room with a HVS490 production switcher and MFR-3000 routing switcher from FOR-A Corporation of America.

Today, First Baptist Jackson streams live 1080p video to Facebook Live, YouTube, and its own website, with local 720p replays the following Sunday on WDBD (FOX) and WLOO (MyNetworkTV) in Jackson (DMA #92). According to Michael Bowen, minister of media and communications, any new switcher had to be “super volunteer-friendly,” because the church relies on more than 50 volunteers (as well as paid staff) to run its weekly production and other projects. The new HD system went live in late August, and he said it has created renewed excitement in their volunteers.

South Africas LINC Church: Live streaming on lockdown Posted: 09/04/2020
South Africas LINC Church: Live streaming on lockdown

Like many countries, South Africa's response to the COVID-19 pandemic saw a national lockdown and the suspension of large social gatherings - including any places of worship.

LINC Church, based in Salt Rock, would generally see an average weekly congregation of around 1,000 people. However, with that now not being possible, the Church made a swift decision to take everything online.

Video has become an invaluable part of LINC's worship on campus, and the Church wanted to continue offering good quality content in a style and format that felt familiar. The aim was also to ensure attendees could access live messages and sermons from pastors.

"Total lockdown came at midnight on the 26th March, but we did get a couple of days notice," begins Simon Wilkes, media director. "We gathered a group of people at the church and used the time to record as much content as we could - both preaching and worship."

Connecting the Digital Congregation: Promethean introduces new Donation Video Overlays

Promethean, a digital solution to dynamically deliver interactive video, has introduced Donation Overlay Templates for easily collecting donations during video streams without disrupting messages. Ideal for Houses of Worship, the new Donation Overlays will connect digital congregations and encourage generosity while streaming LIVE or via VOD content.

Users can set up Donation Templates via a new editor and easily customise their Donation Overlay appearance with unique assets, key messages and edit the layout or appearance with intuitive fields and sliders. These templates can then be assigned to Donation Overlays which are scheduled onto their stream of choice ready for viewer interaction. Without disrupting the message, viewers will be greeted at key moments with a donation widget at the top of the screen that will let them leave a donation amount set in advance, or can be variable and chosen by the user.
