ATEME Provides Arqiva and Samsungs First 5G Trials with 4K HDR Video Content

ATEME announced today that its advanced video compression technology is used by Arqiva and Samsung Electronics to conduct the first field trial of 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology in the UK. The trial, first of its kind in Europe, is taking place from July to December 2017 in central London and involves the deployment of an end-to-end 5G FWA, operating in the 28GHz band. The trial objectives are to demonstrate the stability of 5G FWA and its market potential as a cost efficient and technological alternative to fiber for homes and businesses as well as its ability to foster new use cases outside of traditional smart device mobile connectivity.

TITANs proven ability to operate in server, blade platform and virtual environments with the same source code provides Totalplay with the flexibility needed to scale up or down without service disruption. Totalplay now benefits from hardware abstraction, operational simplicity, and service elasticity, which in turn lowers OPEX costs. On top of all of these OPEX savings there are also some pure CAPEX savings, as fewer different boxes and spares need to be maintained.

ATEME today announced it is providing its Kyrion encoders to drive 70 major content channels for FPT Telecom, one of Vietnams top three telecommunications providers. The encoders will be deployed on the premises of  major content providers where they will encode content and stream it back to the FPT operations centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
