To meet the needs of the Ealing School of Art, Design and Media, part of the University of West London, Veale Associates have created broadcast facilities dedicated to those training for a career in radio. VEALE ASSOCIATES PUTS BFBS STUDIOS ON PARADE Posted: 05/09/2014

Attention! Acoustic consultant and design company Veale Associates is delighted to have joined forces with the British Forces Broadcast Service (BFBS), refurbishing the 1980s broadcast facilities.

The Stevenage-based company has overhauled three studios, three production booths, a talk studio and a television studio with green screen for the BFBS as part of a refurbishment programme orchestrated by the charity which provides the invaluable service, the Services Sound and Vision Corporation (SSVC), under its contract with the MOD.

A SOUND EDUCATION Posted: 16/06/2014

Veale Associates has created music and post production facilities dedicated to those training for a career in sound. The project, at the Universitys St Marys Road, Ealing site, combines a recording studio complete with control room, live room and drum booth, with a post-production studio.

The development is part of a multi-million pound campus regeneration scheme for the University, aimed at improving students learning and social experience. VA worked closely with principal contractor Willmott Dixon to create the studio facilities, having been involved in the design and build of sound and recording studios for both Falmouth and Middlesex Universities.

IAN SANDS WINS BAFTA FOR GOSPEL SOUND Posted: 11/10/2013

Production sound mixer Ian Sands is celebrating a sound victory after scooping the Best Sound BAFTA Cymru award for his work on the 2012 film The Gospel of Us starring Michael Sheen.

Together with dubbing mixer Dai Shell, Sands accepted the prestigious British Academy Award for the pairs outstanding work on Dave McKeans contemporary re-telling of the Passion story, the big screen adaptation of the National Theatre of Wales Easter performance in Port Talbot. The familiar mask trophy was presented at the glittering ceremony in the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on 29th September.

In a career spanning 35 years of sound recording and mixing, Sands has a host of Film and TV credits to his name including 'The Bourne Ultimatum', and more recently Tim Burton's 'Dark Shadows', with the latest for release this month Stephen Sondheim's musical 'Merrily We Roll Along'.

"I have worked on many films and TV shows but this project was certainly a challenge," says Sands. "This fantastic award is recognition of the hard work and effort put into ensuring the film sound track had all the necessary ingredients and impact to accompany the vision of the Director. A big thank you to BAFTA Cymru."

The production sound team also included Dubbing mixer and Ian's second, Emyr Morris, minstrel recordists Jules Davies, Dafydd Pierce and Nick Stewart. Post production was undertaken by Dia Shell and Ellie Russell.
