Avid systems simplify workflow at UCLan

Altered Images has recently supported the University of Central Lancashire with a large update to its Avid Media Composer systems, as part of the university’s complete Avid Interplay, iNews and Avid shared storage infrastructure. Since the Media Composers operate in an Interplay environment, Altered Images also made sure all components in the system were upgraded to the correct versions.

Additionally, Altered Images helped UCLan update Avid MediaCentral, improving collaboration by integrating news, sports, post-production and live-production workflows. MediaCentral enables students to access media and work on projects from anywhere, plus UCLan’s tutors are now able to view student work – both on and off campus – without being at a Media Composer station.

New Orad Systems Give M6 an Even Faster Graphics Workflow for News Productions

M6, a subsidiary of the RTL group and long-time customer of Orad solutions, recently upgraded its information with Orads latest graphics workflow solutions. I consider channel branding to be the DNA of the station identity, connecting M6 corporate and programs through distinct look and feel, states Michel Nougu©, M6 group artistic director. Our goal in this latest upgrade was to modernize the workflow, allowing a more dynamic use of graphics. Orads newest solutions were the natural choice. The power combined with flexibility allows us to be even more creative and flexible.

Avid and the University of Salford back the next generation of industry talent

Avid today announced that its 18-year partnership with the University of Salford has been further cemented with the opening and sponsorship of a complete Avid state-of-the-art newsroom at the Universitys new MediaCityUK facility.

The newsroom, a key part of the building opened last week by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, includes the latest Avid iNews, Avid NewsCutter and Avid Media Composer software. The Universitys investment in this technology, which has been subsidised by Avid, means students will learn and have access to industry-standard professional broadcast news solutions. Through this partnership the University of Salford also becomes a Certified Avid Training Centre, giving students the assurance that their educational programme has been devised in line with stringent industry standards.
