P7S1P4-ATV introduce high-quality remote guests into professional workflows with Quicklink Studio (ST55)

ProsiebenSat.1Puls4-ATV, Austria’s largest commercial television collaboration station broadcasting 4 channels Puls4, ATV, ATV2 and the news channel Puls24, have chosen Quicklink Studio (ST55) for introducing high-quality, fully-manageable remote guests into news, entertainment and other programming.

Providing nationwide broadcasts of news, entertainment, movies and series, ProsiebenSat.1Puls4-ATV required a professional solution for introducing remote guests into productions across their broadcasted channels that would replace their existing video call workflow. The Quicklink Studio (ST55) allows P7S1P4-ATV to easily introduce high-quality remote guests into their production workflows in real-time with professional broadcast outputs such as HD-SDI and NDI using the Quicklink ST100, ST2102, ST208 and ST200. Utilising the Quicklink Manager, operators can intuitively manage virtual rooms and remote guest settings using a cloud-based web portal accessible from any global location!

“Moving from a client-based video call integration to a web-based one was done easy and very reliable” said Marko Trlin, Broadcast Systems Engineer at ATV.

The Quicklink Studio (ST55) solution works within a simple web browser, with no apps or software installs required by the remote guests. Guests can be invited from the Quicklink Manager via SMS, WhatsApp, email or by generating a simple URL link to be shared across any messaging medium. From the Quicklink Manager, an operator is able to remotely control and configure all aspects of the remote guests device, including camera, microphone and speaker settings.

Utilising the Assisted Invite feature when sending invitations, remote guests are routed through step-by-step instructions that ensure that remote guests are pre-screened, fully prepared, set-up and tested to go into a live environment. As part of the steps, remote guests are guided through enabling access to their camera/microphone, configuring their camera, microphone and speaker, and troubleshooting. The guest also runs through a quick test call to check their network status and that they have the recommended upload speed needed.

Marko added; “It’s very comfortable to take over the control regarding audio and video settings for the interviewed person, so we can concentrate on the content and not how to get the remote hardware working”.

The Carbon Calculator tool incorporated in Quicklink Studio automatically calculates the amount of CO2 emissions avoided by contributing using the Quicklink solutions and is intuitively displayed for both the remote contributor and operators. Through intuitive reports, ProsiebenSat.1Puls4-ATV and other Quicklink Studio users can track their carbon savings in a simple interface, compare benchmarks and identify important levers for reduction over time.
