Panasonic and GlobeCast Form Global Workflow Technology Partnership Panasonic Professional Broadcast and IT Systems (PBITS) and GlobeCast, a leading content management and delivery company, have formalised a technology partnership to integrate Panasonics P2 broadcast workflow and production technology with GlobeCasts Media Sharing Platforms (MSP). The agreement will result in strong compatibility between the technology, software and media asset management platforms that facilitate the seamless exchange of content among broadcast professionals.

Large DVI Matrix from Gefen Lets You Switch and Distribute 16 Computers to 16 Displays Connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced the release of its new 16x16 DVI Matrix, delivering a one-to-one or one-to-many video distribution. Access is controlled by the front-panel, RS-232 connection, IR remote or an IP local area network. The front panel display conveniently lists status and switching information.

This matrix switcher supports 1920x1200 resolutions, and offers an amazingly fast switch with very low cross-talk between adjacent channels. It can be rack mounted and combined with any of Gefen's DVI extension solutions to deliver high resolutions to remote displays.

The Gefen 16x16 DVI Matrix can be used in a variety of applications, including recording studios with a need to command and control multiple workstations. It is ideal for digital signage, large presentations in corporate, medical, education and broadcast facilities, and for video walls. It will begin shipping in November 2009.

PROKIT hosts LED Lighting Day PROKIT has hosted an Open Day for broadcast, film and video LED Lighting, the first of its kind in the UK. It took place in Prokits Chiswick showroom on Thursday 15th. October 2009. Manufacturers taking part included ARRI, Bebob, Dedo, Element Labs, Litepanels, Lowel and PAG. Visitors were able to see a range of state of the art products from each manufacturer, and make side by side comparisons. Members of the STLD, BSC and GTC attended, as well as two dozen practitioners from the broadcast and video worlds.

Q-Ball robotic heads break record for longest-ever HD OB Camera Corps' Q-Ball robotic HD cameras have successfully completed 100 days of continuous service as a key element of OB coverage from the 4th plinth in London's Trafalgar Square. The cameras were chosen by 021 Television, part of Gravity Media Group, to provide video coverage of Antony Gormley's 'One & Other' project. A total of 2,400 people participated in the event, some promoting their favourite cause or charity while others simply admired the view. The Q-Ball cameras were used from July 6 to October 14, accumulating content for the production of 60 minute reports transmitted on Sky Arts 1 HD each Friday evening. Live HD video from the cameras was also downconverted and streamed for the entire duration of the round-the-clock event via the Sky Arts website www.oneandother.com.

QED FIELDS 410 SQ. METRE SCREEN FOR BOOTCAMP EVENT

Pioneering AV company QED Productions found they were able to set several technical milestones when the 2009 Entrepreneurs Bootcamp came to Londons O2 Arena.

The brief from event producers, Smyle Creative, was to provide the biggest projection display ever seen at the 15,000-capacity venue, and AV specialists QED duly obliged, filling the massive 34.5m wide by 11.9m high Harkness Hall projection canvas by deploying six state-of-the-art Christie Roadster HD18K projectors flown off a 25-metre high truss, high above the audience, via their own fast-fit custom-designed rigging system.
