Uppsala Bildteknik uses Hamlet Vidscope-BX for colour correction quality control Leading Swedish film transfer specialist Uppsala Bildteknik has installed a Hamlet Vidscope-BX software based test and measurement system as part of its colour grading suite. Uppsala Bildteknik specialises in archive films, cleaning and repairing the fragile material before scanning to HD, and obtaining the best and most consistent colour and image quality is vital.

The Vidscope-BX is the latest version of Hamlets software suite of test and quality control tools. It runs on a standard Windows PC with a suitable video I/O board, making it an ideal and cost-effective way of accessing a wide range of high precision test displays. The software is fully customisable, allowing the operator to set the exact combination of test traces on the screen needed for each job.

Southern California Audio Post Facility AudioVision Upgrades To Fairlights Constellation XCS Console Audio post production facility AudioVision has placed an order for a three-bay Fairlight Constellation XCS console. This will be installed into a custom-built frame that is currently being constructed by AudioVisions owner, Bill Trousdale.

Based in Orange County, AudioVision was established in 1989 by Trousdale who has more than 35 years experience in the pro audio industry. The facility is equipped to a very high specification, particularly in regards to acoustic isolation and overall sonic purity. All of its audio recording systems are Fairlight, which Trousdale chose because they offer the speed, stability and audio quality that his clients demand.

SOUND DEVICES DEBUTS FIRMWARE UPDATE 1.76 FOR 788T AND 788T-SSD DIGITAL RECORDERS Sound Devices announces its latest 1.76 Firmware update for its best-selling 788T and 788T-SSD Digital Recorders. This new release includes numerous functional enhancements, including limiter behavior and several important upgrades.

Sound Devices 1.76 firmware makes substantial upgrades to the limiter algorithms of the 788T and 788T-SSD. These changes include new, independent pre-fade and post-fade limiters on inputs as well left/right output limiters. ATG Broadcast completes Media Gallery relocation for BBC Academy ATG Broadcast has completed relocation of the BBC Academy's central London production training studio from Marylebone to White City. The project included the installation and commissioning of a Media Gallery control room and studio floor including traditional tape-based equipment as well as the most up-to-date file-based technology.

"Moving the Marylebone facility to White City forms part of the integration of the BBC's technical training activities into a College of Production which will operate in conjunction with the College of Journalism and the College of Leadership and Management," comments Nick Hall, Technical Services Manager at the BBC Academy. "The new site has the advantage of being close to BBC Television Centre and adjacent to Media Village. It can operate in conjunction with the BBC's engineering training facilities at Wood Norton."

Mitomo Upgrades To Fairlights Latest CC-1 Technology Tokyo-based post production facility Mitomo VTC (Video Technical Centre) has upgraded its Fairlight equipment to encompass Fairlights latest Crystal Core (CC-1) technology.

The facility has been using Fairlight FAME technology for some years but has now installed two Constellation XCS consoles, powered by the companys CC-1 engine. The new desks include a three-bay console, which has been installed in studio MA1, and a four-bay console that is the centerpiece of studio MA2.

Mitomo VTC is primarily involved in audio post production for television and its main client is Japanese broadcaster NHK. By investing in Fairlights latest technology, Mitomo VTC has not only chosen an easy upgrade path but has also increased compatibility with NHK, which has also installed Fairlights CC-1 engine.
