Orange Delivers 1.75 Billion Multi-DRM Licenses From Viaccess-Orca

Viaccess-Orca (VO), a global leader providing OTT and TV platforms, content protection, and advanced data solutions, announced today that 1.75 billion licenses of its multi-DRM cloud service have successfully been delivered in the last 12 months by Orange, a tier-1 telecommunications operator with 253 million customers worldwide. Orange's massive delivery across Belgium, France, Ivory Coast, Poland, and Spain demonstrates the immense scale of VO's multi-DRM solution for the protection of IPTV and OTT services.

"While meeting the growing consumer demand for digital content, we also need to ensure the content is well-protected," said Christian Bombrun, Executive Vice President, Products and Services at Orange France. "Using VO's multi-DRM cloud service, we can rapidly launch pay-TV services while meeting the stringent security requirements of the studios."

Orange selected VO's multi-DRM solution based on its world-renowned multiscreen security algorithms, scalable design, and its ability for quick implementation. VO's multi-DRM solution includes support for the company's proprietary VO DRM, as well as Microsoft PlayReady, Apple FairPlay, and Google Widevine. The cloud service has been deployed by Orange on set-top boxes, tablets, mobile devices, computers, and smart TVs, providing the operator with a scalable delivery rate of up to 1,000 licenses per second.

"VO's multi-DRM solution passed a rigorous assessment by Cartesian and is ultra-scalable, making it the top choice for tier-1 operators like Orange, who are experiencing rapid growth," said Philippe Leonetti, CEO of Viaccess-Orca. "Content security is complex; the fact that Orange was able to deploy billions of our multi-DRM licenses in 12 months is a testimony to the robustness and flexibility of our content security cloud service, as well as an important milestone for our company."

Alpha Sound Selects DPA for Famed Cathedral AV Overhaul Posted: 21/04/2021
Alpha Sound Selects DPA for Famed Cathedral AV Overhaul

St. Mary’s Cathedral is one of the most popular and beautiful Catholic churches in the Portland area. It serves as its parish’s diocese, hosting weekly masses, services and sometimes daily visits for a large, devoted congregation. The church needed to ensure its audio-visual equipment could convey its important messages in a smooth, intelligible manner—something that was previously lacking due its domed cathedral and marble walls. When it came time for an AV upgrade, St. Mary’s turned to Alpha Sound, a leading AV installer in the Pacific Northwest. With 40 years’ experience, the Alpha Sound team was ready to tackle the live acoustical issues at the cathedral while also choosing equipment that would not impede the church’s elegant décor. To accomplish this, the installer selected more than 20 mics from DPA Microphones, the largest DPA install to-date in the area.

Mo-Sys takes virtual production to a truer focus

Mo-Sys Engineering, world leader in precision camera tracking solutions for virtual production, has solved a major creative limitation when using an LED volume for virtual production. Cinematographers who needed to pull focus between real foreground objects – such as actors – and virtual objects displayed on an LED wall – such as a car - have been unable to do this as the lens focal plane stops at the LED wall, meaning the car always remains out of focus.
