David Rideau and PMC Join Forces To Deliver Dolby Atmos Seminars in Japan

UK loudspeaker manufacturer PMC will have a strong presence at this year’s Inter BEE exhibition in Japan where it is showcasing a range of professional monitors that are ideally suited to mixing music in immersive audio formats such as Dolby Atmos.

In conjunction with its Japanese distributor Otaritec, PMC will run a series of immersive audio mixing seminars in a Dolby Atmos suite equipped with a 7.1.4 PMC system consisting of PMC6-2 active monitors for Left, Centre and Right channels, and PMC6 monitors for surrounds and overheads. There will also be a separate demo booth where PMC’s range of active monitors will be on show, along with its result6 monitors that are ideally suited to smaller studios and nearfield applications.

Dolby Atmos expert David Rideau, a Grammy winner and four-times Grammy nominee, will deliver two seminars daily throughout the show, assisted by PMC’s Senior Export Business Development Manager Dan Zimbelman. The Los-Angeles-based producer and engineer has earned dozens of gold and platinum records for his work with producers such as Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and artists such as Sting, TLC, Janet Jackson, Yolanda Adams, Brenda Russell, Earth Wind and Fire, George Benson, Tom Scott, Al Jarreau and Kirk Franklin.

As an industry leader in the field of immersive sound, PMC’s involvement with Dolby Atmos goes back many years. Thanks to its close working relationship with Dolby, PMC monitoring systems are now widely regarded as the standard reference for Dolby Atmos for Music because their almost limitless headroom, power capabilities, accuracy and sonic fidelity ensure they go well beyond Dolby’s minimum requirements.

“This is the first time that visitors to Inter BEE will be able to enjoy immersive audio mixing demonstrations from an acknowledged expert of David’s calibre, in a fully equipped Dolby Atmos suite,” Zimbelman says. “Many internationally acclaimed studios have chosen PMC monitors for their Atmos rooms, including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Dean Street Studios and Apple. We are delighted to be partnering with Otaritec in this venture, which will highlight PMC’s long-term support for Dolby Atmos and the suitability of our professional monitoring products for immersive audio music mixing facilities.”

Following Inter BEE, which takes place in Tokyo from November 15th to 17th, PMC will hold a series of invitation-only seminars at Xylomania Studios in Tokyo, which has just completed its second PMC-equipped Dolby Atmos studio. These will run on November 20th and 21st, and once again David Rideau will give participants the benefit of his experience of mixing in the Atmos format.

PMC and Otaritec will be on booths 5212 (for the Atmos Demo room) and 2210 (for stereo PMC products) at Inter BEE. For further information, please visit the booth or visit the following websites:
