Blackmagic Design Used on Summer Films from Around the World

Blackmagic Design today announced that its hardware and software, including digital film cameras, DaVinci Resolve Studio editing, grading, visual effects (VFX) and audio post production software, and more, were used on a number of the summer’s global blockbuster films.

The highly anticipated 2023 summer film schedule includes a wide mix of blockbusters, such as “Fast X,” independent films, such as “Theater Camp” and “Talk to Me,” and global films, such as “Nian Nian Xiang Wang” and “Revolver Lily.” These projects were filmed and had post production completed by filmmakers across the world and highlight the diversity of the global film industry and the ability for any film, regardless of location, to be seen.

Summer films that used Blackmagic Design products for production include

  • “The Blackening” DIT Sam McConville used ATEM live production switchers, UltraStudio Recorders, UltraStudio Monitors and Mini Converters for on set work, and DaVinci Resolve Studio for transcoding and color grading dailies files;
  • “Fast X” DIT Joe Steel used DeckLink Quad, UltraStudio Monitor 3G and DaVinci Resolve Studio for on set DIT work;
  • “Greatest Days” DIT Núria Pérez of Digital Orchard used DaVinci Resolve Studio for on set work;
  • “A Haunting in Venice” DIT Ian Thompson of Digital Orchard used DaVinci Resolve Studio for on set work, with dailies color by Jo Barker;
  • “On a Wing and a Prayer” DP Christian Sebaldt, ASC used Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro for shooting; and
  • “Theater Camp” DIT Kimberly Sauer used DaVinci Resolve Studio, UltraStudio Recorder 3Gs, UltraStudio Monitor 3Gs and Smart Videohub 12x12.

  • “Against All Enemies” graded by Jane Tolmachyov and conformed by Larry Schmitt of Goldcrest Post;
  • “Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.” graded by Skip Kimball of Company 3;
  • “Ba Jiao Long Zhong” graded by Colorist Link Lao of 24Di FilmTeam with DaVinci Resolve Advanced Panel;
  • “Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World” graded by Siggy Ferstl of Company 3, and VFX Supervisor Andrew McPhillips of SpinVFX used DaVinci Resolve Studio within the VFX pipeline;
  • “Black Girls Play: The Story of Hand Games” graded and conformed by Ken Sirulnick of Goldcrest Post;
  • “The Boogeyman” graded by David Cole of FotoKem;
  • “Every Body” graded by Ken Sirulnick and conformed by Larry Schmitt of Goldcrest Post;
  • “Expend4bles” graded by Vanessa Taylor and conformed by Colin Foulkes at Goldcrest Post;
  • “Fast X” graded by Andre Rivas of Company 3, with Tom Klane, Rita Lamas and Doychin Margoevski using DaVinci Resolve for dailies color correction;
  • “Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive” graded by Ken Sirulnick and conformed by Larry Schmitt of Goldcrest Post;
  • “A Haunting in Venice” graded by Rob Pizzey and Maria Chamberlain and conformed by Georgina Cranmer and Jemma Fox of Goldcrest Post;
  • “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” graded by Skip Kimball of Company 3;
  • “It’s Basic” graded by Ken Sirulnick of Goldcrest Post;

  • “Red, White and Royal Blue” graded by Vanessa Taylor and conformed by Colin Foulkes of Goldcrest Post;
  • “Renfield” graded by David Cole of FotoKem;
  • “Revolver Lily” the Japanese film about the battle of a beautiful and skilled gunslinger, Yuri Kosone, set in Taisho Era in Japan and released on August 11th was graded by Masahiro Ishiyama of ARTONE FILM;
  • “Shortcomings” VFX Supervisor Alex Noble of Wild Union Post used DaVinci Resolve Studio within the VFX pipeline;
  • “Talk to Me” graded by Marty Pepper;
  • “Theater Camp” graded by Nat Jencks of PostWorks New York, and VFX Supervisor Alex Noble of Wild Union Post used DaVinci Resolve Studio within the VFX pipeline; and
  • “World’s Best” graded by Alex Bickel of Color Collective.
